Talkpal has answered to my e-mail saying that they could not find any active subscription in my name.
Having very regularly used Talkpal AI over the past twelve months to support my Welsh language study, I very much recommend this excellent application for anyone wishing to improve a language learning experience.
The experience was great!
For instance, I detest romanization of Korean because it's so distracting and I couldn't remove it - I don't know if it's even possible to remove it. Total waste of time.
Take into account that this app is not for people who want to start studying a language from the very beginner level, as it requires some fundamental knowledge, after all the app is user-friendly and has very interesting features that boost the studying level.
Top notch customer service.
After 2 weeks trial period, I realised I was charged.
But if you have a good knowledge of it, it can be a good program but only for latin alphabets!
I found it so practical to learn Spanish language.
I’ve completed the Duolingo course in French which was great for building vocabulary and grammar.
I took the "free" trial and when I wanted to cancel the subscription the button didn't work, so I deleted my account and they made me pay anyway... I lost 60 euros...
UPDATE 25th March - Since posting the below, customer service contacted me and restored my Premium access.
I had logged with my google account.
The website which has articles teaches you wrong grammar.
The app is very good for me. customer service is a little slow. 15. 02. 2025 Went well at first - paid for the upgrade but after they took the money all Premium features stopped working.
A chat bot jabbered with me over dribble for ten minutes before I asked when I would start learning.
talkpal does not start for beginners. you ought to have some skills in the language. E. g if you want to learn a language who uses other written alphabets talkpal is not explaining or learning it to you nor there is a possibility that you can write other alphabets.
The microphone access prompted by the website does not work, input via the somewhat approximative Mac dictation function is the only solution I can think of.
I did NOT proceed with the subscription, but a few minutes later I got an e-mail saying that my trial subscription had started. 😡😡😡😡😡 I have sent them an e-mail asking them to cancel that right away.
Then it asked me what language I wanted to learn even though I had already been asked that multiple times.
Have tried 3 or 4 times and there is no response.
UPDATE 17. 02. 2025 : Since posting the below, customer service contacted me and restored my Premium access.
Rare case in today's AI Chatbot and “sorry to hear…” world.
The accuracy in terms of grammar and vocab is very good and the option to choose different level challenges is great for “stretching” learners.
Have tried to contact the company and they have not responded.
Anyway, the Basic Free account doesn't let you set any preferences - so you can't really try it out even if it's the basic unless you forego your own preferences.
Baloney dribble like thanking me for answering its questions and commenting on my answers as if I needed validated by a bot. The worst.
However, in comparison to Elsa Speak, the speech recognition is inaccurate.
Can't seem to go back a step in exercises so the entire module has to begin from the start.
This app seems to be a natural extension to Duo, with greater opportunities to develop conversational and writing skills.
Also the language is too difficult and as a beginner you got long sentences, and that means that these creators does not have any knowledge about education and learning.
In the app, I liked the debate chat.
My first impression after about ten sessions is wholly positive.
Have tried to contact the company and they have not responded.
As someone that has spent over 30+ years, university, internet, tutors, books, etc trying to nail German, this one... finally works!
I also got EPIC discount because I took the time to contact them. The CS is.... 24 hours they respond. That is EPIC!
I contacted the support team of Talkpal and told them my story.
Had an issue with cancelation and TalkPal team solved it without any further questions.
Not sure I like it but I may return to it at some point.
Very faulty on the website, problems with mic.
