Having been with Ebay for decades i will be going elsewhere in the near future.
Having read other reviews I’m not the only person who hates the new system of payment delay and protection fees.
Ebay changed the way they pay sellers.
We purchased 2 items on Feb 1st they failed to arrive and we opened a case, they still failed to arrive by the 16th.
Finishing up final sale item then account will be closed.
Even though the buyer has left good feedback and clearly has received it, Royal Mail haven't notified that it has been received. why would it when I haven't bought tracked delivery! so now my payments are being hold hostage while ebay makes profit on keeping it for longer. i have called ebay on several time and all they say is to conytact royal mail.
Bought yet ANOTHER item via Ebay to receive an OBVIOUSLY counterfeit fake, reported to Ebay WITH PHOTOS, for Ebay to say "... didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy". thus proving Ebay CONDONES the sale of COUNTERFEIT fakes via their site which, strangely, IS a violation of their policies AND English consumer law - item was 'not as advertised'...
Secondly the system you have introduced FORCING all buyers to pay a new premium under the guise of Buyer Protection is yet another way of getting money for nothing.
EBay has changed its rules for selling so now I’m waiting for days to get my money for an item I sold nearly a week ago and while the buyer has my item, I have nothing, I needed the money to buy stuff in my watchlist but now those items have sold and still no payment from eBay.
Having used eBay for years with next to no problems I question why eBay is now adding a "buyer protection fee".
My days of selling on eBay are over after 22 years of being a loyal customer and doing thousands of pounds of transactions.
Like many many have said - Private Sellers are leaving in their droves - I have near £100 being held hostage by Ebay as a seller, despite buyer receiving item and happy with it - All that is left as a private seller is to have 'collection only' items!!!!!!
Even if you sell something for £2, they can charge you up to £1 as a consumer protection fee.
Why would I voluntarily pay an additional buyers protection fee when paying by paypal, for example, already provides that protection.
Basicaly, I delivered a heavy item personally (driving 280-miles to do so) as EBAY / Ebay partners do not offer such a service.
I feel I have been forced to drastically reduce prices and have also noticed items are hardly getting any views as eBay are deliberately placing listings further down several pages when being searched.
Buyer has sent positive feedback on delivery recived- but EBAY says I have to wait two weeks before I can get paid.
Is that they cannot be bothered to comment on any Feedback here!
Are private sellers based in UK more dodgy than elsewhere in the world?
If eBay are so bothered about the tiny number of sellers who don't come up to scratch, why don't they rely on the rating system?
If ebay is losing vast numbers of customers to platforms like Vinted, surely ebay needs to attract buyers back to ebay, not force higher prices onto the items they want to buy. Peculiar logic.
Additionally, if you want your item to be more visible, you have to pay for 'promoted listing. ' You also have to cover the shipping costs yourself because eBay holds the payment until the buyer has had the item for at least two days.
This obvious ploy to make interest on our money is the latest example of poor judgement and will drive members away in droves. Well done Ebay!!!!
EBay now hold onto your payment for 2 days after it’s delivered regardless of the customer leaving a positive feedback.
Whoever thought this was a good idea needs firing.
Literally my sales have completely dried up cause of eBays ridiculous decision to charge buyers protection fee when buyers were already protected!
In reality it feels like a device to (a) penalise private sellers and (b) grab some easy money.
Due to eBay’s absurd decision to introduce a so-called "buyer protection fee" when buyers were already fully protected, my sales have tanked.
Now the app is no longer working, I have missed out on many big biddings and I haven't been able to buy anything as I don't regularly use a PC.
My banking details were already known to Ebay yet i had to go through a verification of my account thereby stalling me from withdrawing my money.
Looks like i am going to have to start using other platforms to do my shopping, as I don't see why I should replace a perfectly good and working phone!!
Not any MORE Been a member for over 15 years, but things have changed and it's so bad it isn't worth the stress all the problems and failures that the website/app causes and customer service is UTTERLY ABYSMAL.
It appears that the introduction of Buyers Protection Fee on items from private sellers has been limited to the UK.
Very unhappy, the latest update only works with Ios 17, which means I am forced to buy another phone if I want to keep using ebay!
On a number of occasions, eBay’s postal tracking system has failed to update resulting in delayed seller payment.
The new % of money that ebay adds to the price of for sale items, is killing the platform.
Awful.
I’m pretty sure they are simply doing this to earn more interest on our money before releasing it.
They clearly want sellers to pay them to promote items!
Well, I’m done playing their game. eBay, you can keep your greed, because I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
