It's true there are some poor offerings on the site but there are also some excellent ones.
they're a scam website. misleading scripts with intent to deceive buyers, and when you buy its only then you find out all the extras you have to buy for simple feature that should be included anyway. when i requested a refund from them they made it clear that its down to the author to agree to that. so i disputed the claim with paypal when i read up CC's reviews and found they dont issue refunds. since i opened the case i got emailed by envato telling me to close my claims or my account stays locked, and ive bought from them before which will be unusable to me if i keep the claims. if i did did close the claim i have no buyer protection and with them known to not issue refunds thatll leave me in a bad situation. stay away from this company avoid if you can. sady its a case of trustpilot manipulation with 1. 5/5 the only legit reviews are the bad. the good are bots.
If you request a refund, it is often denied without proper investigation from Envato's customer support they simply side with the seller.
I submitted a complaint regarding a NOT working install, and the author replied via a non-reply email saying go to the comments section to update.
Any ratings/reviews will be removed (unless you have purchased the item multiple times) [... ].
The plugins on CodeCanyon may seem like a good deal, but when only 1 out of 3 ends up being usable, you wind up spending more money than you would have buying from reputable sources that have fair money-back guarantees.
They've blocked my profile, where I've spent close to $4,000 so far. my account was blocked directly because I forgot to increase the limit of my debit card when paying $20.
I have just spent the last 4-dyas trying to get the developer to fix an issue and after 11 messages back and forth to them, that today I had to finally give up and the issue still isn't fixed.
They extract money from your account and mark those operations like "sale reversal" and saying that a user purchased that item and then the bank withdrew the money back to credit card!!!! they have a text policy article where they just washing your brain with author/section19 from themeforest where very clear it's saying on similar situations you're not right and you don't have any right and they let you to go if you want!!!! WHAT??!!!! paying 35% fees and to heard this bul###? Scammers!!!!
Some of these reviews are very unfair.
Especially author droidOxy , he selling useless apps which is not acceptable by google play and he is not letting other peoples to sell related items on codecanyon.
They still haven't replied to my PayPal disputes due by December 17th. They are scum.
It's true many programmers are in India or Egypt, so what?
But now they help defend authors who have committed fraud and they remove negative reviews for these authors.
As I am on a tight budget, making any future purchases this site - for me - would be too risky unfortunately.
Because we opened dispute, We loss all licences value over 100 euro, because they block us, also they insist that we pay same fund again, what we inserted to paypal dispute abt unworked licence.
Don't bother buying from Codecanyon/Envato for WordPress plugins as they are not what they say they are.
Now I've lost everything because of a comment and they won't let me back in even after contacting support and explaining everything!
Having bought around $100 of plugins from this site I am unlikely to ever make another purchase.
No matter how much I complained, they didn't open it back.
If you post a negative review of a plugin, you'll probably never see that review again. They just don't post it.
We have many purchased licences on our codecanyon account, until they blocked out 22. 12. 2023 total value over 100 euro, we trying to bought new licence from them, and after purchase they blocked us out our account, because we opened dispute from paypal abt unworked licence of our newest purchase.
They sell broken, bugged and broken software.
All bad comments are removed by Codecanyon to protect those developers' businesses because Codecanyon is corrupted with them.
In my case,they work illegally, and non respondbility.
If the product is only available on Envato, consider looking for an alternative, or you risk losing your money with no chance of a refund.

Locked me out of my account for commenting on an author page that his app was outdated and if he wasn't prepared to update it, I'd be willing to do it for free for anyone.
Do not buy from them any products, because almost all negative comments about defective products are removed!
When you finally get a refund (I had to use PayPal help), they block your account and remove negative comments about them. Response from them: [... ] We’re letting you know, that as a security precaution, your Envato account has been locked.
I requested a dispute only for 2 items, but they sent an email saying that I have to cancel the dispute with PayPal for access to my account, and now they have locked my account.
Be careful, they will present the mistakes and bugs made by the authors as your fault, initiate a violation and your account will be suspended.

If you understand how to code (even a bit) you can quickly work out if the author understands what they are talking about and you pick your supplier accordingly.
Customer support is slow and fairly unhelpful, seemingly siding with the developers - who in my case set their rules.
I think authors are creating buggy products to get more aupport renew.
CodeCanyon puts the power of the comments section in the hands of the author!
I agree with Chris Williams comment below but in the same breath I have experienced the very BAD and I am a coder!
Great products at reasonable prices, but that is where it stops.
