Asfinag is not reachable. I tried the whole day to buy a vignette.
I want to purchase a vignette but card payment is not working.
Ordering the vignette works well but when paying for it I get an error.
I try to reset the password, cut'n'paste a new password into it to make sure I got it right.
What a shame for Austria.
Unfortunately, I did not realize the failure until I received a notice that nonpayment of toll is now a €120 fee.
It looks basically like nothing but a currupt money making machine.
Later ASFINAG sent a fine of 120 Euros, even when their own agent had tolds us that it was not necessary in our half day route.
The motorways were good and clearly marked, but all the toilets we stopped at had long queues of people waiting, they were dirty and often blocked.
I find it very unfair because we had all the proof and they still wanted us to pay the fine.
THe only country that doesn't allow to buy vignette foe next few days!
There was no fraude only late administration. But now to pay twice !!! no way !!!
I even tried showing my charges and payments for the toll stations that were successful but they do not care.
I purchased vignettes at an authorized resale valid for 10 days for around €15. 00 for the motorway toll, after about a month I received about 2 large fines totaling €240.
I can only guess that ASFINAG is using it by purpose as a tourist trap to send you a 120 EUR fee for 4km highway.
It accepts my email, I enter a password and it never accepts my password.
So I can buy 2-3 in advance and activate when I decide to go, so easy!
But Austria with its ASFINAG is not only much more expensive the Switzerland, it uses this tourist traps plus you even have to pay on top of it for some road tunnels?
Asked them to refund what we had paid and then we will pay the fine or just give us an administrtive fine.
In general, a maut is not a bad thing as long as you manage it properly like in Switzerland (which is with 40 CHF much cheaper than 96 EUR in Austria) to relieve the tax burden on local citizens and let everyone pay who uses the roads.
You need to buy 1 month in advance due to refund policy. STUPID!
The agent they have in Germany fed us with wrong information regarding the routes where we needed to pay toll for.
I was not trying to avoid toll fees, there was an issue with toll flex and toll stations that I was unaware of.
It accepts the changed password but I still can't login it. it is a disaster, I am honestly not sure if I will get fined for not having a physical vignette but a perhaps, maybe defunct e-vignette.
After we sent a photograph of the vignette and we also had the reciept of the proof of buying this vignette, they said is invalid because the camera detected that our vignette is not placed right.
Has anyone got experience in not paying the fine or has anyone taken legal action against this daylight robbery ? (would like to take this to the European Court....
I have purchased a vignette for my vacation to Austria and I have for over a week tried to create an account and enter the license plate of my car for automatic payment.
There is a Maut free section between the German and Swiss border on the A14, but don't you dare to miss the motorway exit at Hohenems and move until Altach.
ASFINAG is made of a bunch of thieves living off tourists by traping then in their web.
It took ASFIN so long to notify me of nonpayment (months), and then so long to respond about the situation, that my nonpayment is now a serious matter and serious fee.
I purchased a 10 days vignettes at a hungarian petrol station for the motorway toll, but after a month we received a €120 fine.
a bunch of thieves ! their administration process sucks - they should be more tourist minded and not treat us as trucking companies ! we did not submit the docs separetely within 30 days so they send a fine of 240 !! because they then automatically put you in EUR emission 1....
Let us buy it then without activation date and just add a button "Activate vignette now" when we need it.
We went from Vienna to Italy and back at the end of July.
